President Trump late Sunday thanked the U.S. service members aboard warships that recently launched missiles against Syria.

“Thank you @USNavy! #USA,” he tweeted.

Trump’s tweet included a link to a Sunday article on the Navy’s website in which he expressed his gratitude to the commanding officers and the crews of the USS Ross and the USS Porter, two destroyers that are part of the U.S. 6th Fleet.

The U.S. conducted a missile strike in Syria last week in response to a gas attack that reportedly killed dozens of civilians, including children, according to The New York Times.

The Pentagon said that warships fired 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at an airfield near the Syrian city of Homs that was purportedly the origin of the chemical strike two days earlier.

U.S. and Western officials have said forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad are responsible for the gas attack.
